The haute hippie vibe ruled the runways when the spring collections were shown back in September, with Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, Tommy Hilfiger and more putting the Seventies silhouette du jour back on the radar. ‘There had to be flares,’ says designer Henry Holland of his SS15 offering, an ode to Seventies rock groupies.‘That was my woman, she rocks a flare. They were lower cut because I didn’t want to do mum flares - this girl is way cooler. She’s getting out that midriff and she ain’t afraid to show it.’ Below L-R: Flares at the Tommy Hilfiger, House Of Holland and Tom Ford spring 2015 fashion shows

For those (very rare) occasions when dressing like a Woodstock throwback just isn’t an option, you'll be pleased to hear that a pair of mega-flares can be worked into real life too. See Celine’s wide leg trousers - fluted from the knee down, but kept under control by a slick tunic - for a fishtail-like silhouette that's smart enough for work. Elsewhere, Antonio Berardi did breezy palazzo pants in evening satin, while Balmain offered the Martini glass cut (skinny stem, wide hem) in a range of wearable prints and colours for resort. And who would we be to talk flared trousers without mentioning the easiest way to tap the trend - jeans? Gucci revisited their Seventies archives with an entire collection of bellbottom jeans in vintage look washes. Topshop, meanwhile, have come first in the race to the high street, unveiling Cara Delevingne as the face of their spring campaign, clad in a pair of 'MOTO Clean Cut Flare Jeans' and glam rock platforms. With designers and highstreets offering Flares for Spring Summer 2015,it would be rude not to introduce these for men too! Below: Topshop's MOTO Clean Cut Flares
